4-week update

Francisco is now 4 weeks old. He is doing great. He is a good baby. He eats and sleeps well. At night, he usually gets up to eat about 3-4 times (11pm, 2am, 4am, 7am OR 10pm, 12am, 3am, 7am). He generally goes right back to sleep after he eats, but sometimes he keeps me up. Like two nights ago, he decided to have some ‘alert’ time at 2:30am. It only lasted about 45 minutes though. It wasn’t too bad.

He hasn’t been colicky yet (crossing fingers). He only cries when he wants to eat or have his diaper changed. He has a baby rash and I guess it’s normal. We just have to wait for it to go away.

He still has a receding hairline. He has less hair than Mateo when he was born. Other than that, they seem pretty similar as babies. At least so far.

On another note, taking care of two children is WAY harder than taking care of one.

I have no idea how the Duggers do it.

Mateo starts daycare

Today was Mateo’s first real day at daycare. He had a huge tantrum before Dave left. I think it’s starting to sink in that this daycare thing is here to stay.

Kiko

Welcome Kiko!

 Born 8/20/07 10:27am, 8 lbs 3 oz, 20 inches

Mateo seems to like his little brother for the most part. We’ll pretend we haven’t seen him laughing at him when he cries or throwing pillows on him. We will just focus on how he likes to kiss his feet and carress him. Yeah, that’s it.

Tito’s 2nd birthday party. His favorite cartoon is Elmo’s World so we made an Elmo cake. He didn’t have any trouble eating it. Instead of singing “Happy Birthday to YOU”. He sang “Happy Birthday…caaaaake!”

Me: Did you do poo-poo?

Tito: (blank stare)

Me: Did you do poo-poo in your pants?

Tito: No

Me: (walks over to inspect his pants)

Tito: (trying to get away) No! No! No! No! No! No!

Me: (inspecting his pants)

He did poo-poo alright. And lied about it.

Yep, that would be his first lie ever. Should I put that down in the baby book?

Bedtime Monologue

Tonight at bedtime, unprompted, Tito gave this monologue:

Goo-nite Tony

Goo-nite Geri

Goo-nite Emma

Goo-nite Mauk (Uncle Mark)

Goo-nite Fank (Frank)

Goo-nite Nonna

Goo-nite Neve (bianca neve)

Goo-nite Nonno

Goo-nite Tony

Goo-nite Gamma Kika

(If you find yourself on this list, you should feel lucky indeed. Notice that Tony got two mentions.)

Bedtime Routine

Daddy gets you into your pjs and brushes your teeth

You ask for milk (a good stalling technique)

We give it to you and then (usually) brush your teeth again

I pick you up and bring you into your room

You point to the rocking chair (another good stalling technique)

I sit with you in the rocking chair and recite all the nursery rhymes I know by heart, plus the ABC song

You say “more” and ask for more rhymes (still stalling)

I tell you a few more rhymes

You say “nap”. (This means you’re ready for bed.)

I pick you up and rock you for another minute.

I put you in your crib with your stuffed animals.

You stand up and cry for 7.6 seconds.

I close the door.

You fall asleep.
